About Us

Bennett Solberg MS, LCPC, NCC, LFACHE

In 1991, I graduated from the University of Minnesota with my bachelor’s in psychology and anthropology. While in the Navy I transitioned as an engineer/Surface Warfare Officer to the Medical Service Corp and have subsequently worked in a variety of care settings including Navy ships and with the United States Marines. A lifelong learner I completed additional bachelor's of science in accounting, master’s degrees in human systems integration/operations research, Public Administration/Health Services, and a Ph.D. in Health Sciences. Post retirement from the Navy I continued my education, completing my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University. I continued to support community mental health efforts by providing mental health counseling for those enrolled to an addiction treatment center.

I am licensed in Maryland and am a National Certified Counselor by the National Board for Certified Counselors. My practice focuses on human-centered counseling and the application of hypnosis, biofeedback, and eclectic/alternative approaches in mental health counseling. I provide treatment to individuals, families, couples, and groups for a variety of mental and emotional health issues and relationship problems including anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, stress, and suicidal impulses.

I also recognize that not all client issues are the result of mental illness. Many of the everyday challenges clients face are well within the scope of responsible coaching practice. I am a credentialed International Coaching Federation coach (ACC). I endeavor to provide services at the most appropriate level of care based on client presentation and needs. In addition to cognitive-behavioral therapies, I have a strong background in coaching, applied psychophysiology/biofeedback and integrative/complementary and alternative medicine. I regularly employ hypnosis in treatment. I endeavor to guide and teach clients to manage the impact of barriers that prevent them from moving forward and successfully living their best lives.

I am a member of the American Psychological Association and Division 30 Society for Psychological Hypnosis, the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH), and The Milton H. Erickson Foundation. I have obtained certification in clinical hypnosis via the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

As a therapist, I volunteer with Maryland’s Born Free Wellness Centers. My social justice activities include serving on the Board of Advisors for Pave the Way Foundation. I am Treasurer Emeritus of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George and an adjunct professor.

Bennett Solberg is a provider established in Rockville, Maryland and his medical specialization is a counselor (mental health).
